ABOUT THE ROLE:

Trax is looking to add an experienced Project Manager to our team of people who are passionate about retail data and merchandising. Project Managers at Trax are responsible for working on projects from multiple clients and expected to take the lead on organizing project information, ensuring that work flows from one service line to the next, tracking deliverables and health, and reporting to stakeholders the results on an appropriate cadence. Qualified candidates possess a background in project management with success demonstrating effective communication and organization skills as well as a background and understanding of what it means to work in a technology company and/or a company servicing the US consumer retail industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Planning and Initiation: Develop and document comprehensive project plans outlining scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and required resources.

Risk Management: Identify and document risks before designing plans to mitigate and track them during the project lifecycle

Team Leadership: Organize project teams of stakeholders and operations service lines according to documented roles and responsibilities to achieve project objectives

Communication: Maintain open communication lines with project stakeholders, providing regular and proactive updates on project progress. Track and document periodic project performance updates to operations management. Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and stakeholders

Change Management: Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs, ensuring proper documentation and communication. Facilitate the adoption of changes within the project team, considering the requirements of technology, stakeholders, and operations service lines

Issue and Incident Management: Track, report, and respond to incidents as they arise in projects. Ensure that plans are implemented and enforced to ensure projects return to a healthy status

SKILLS:

Project Manager candidates should be proficient in the following:

Microsoft Excel

  • You can take a 20,000 rows spreadsheet and create a pivot table that clearly summarizes the data
  • You can quickly filter a document to identify specific rows that meet specific criteria
  • You can add numbers, concatenate or separate rows, and perform a vlookup or index match function

Microsoft Outlook

  • You can manage an inbox using rules, filters, and folders in a way to support urgent emails from clients and day-to-day reporting duties
  • You can send meeting invites to multiple people based on their availability and include an agenda and documents to review prior to a meeting
  • You can organize your week’s tasks to ensure that periodic tasks do not go incomplete

Statistics, Math and Data

  • You’re comfortable exploring and interpreting the results of a dataset by using a dashboard
  • You have a fundamental understanding of descriptive statistics and understand when different measures and tests are appropriately applied
  • You approach the creation and maintenance of datasets with a respect for the science behind it

Strategy and Problem solving

  • You know how to identify a risk, create a strategy to mitigate it, and define when a problem occurs
  • You understand how to define a problem as solved and what the process looks like to solve it
  • You can interpret a problem’s priority based on its traits
  • You can assemble a team of individuals to solve the problem that is relative to the size of the problem
  • You are comfortable communicating with others that a problem exists, even if there is no current solution

Project Timeline Management

  • You can transform the SLAs and dependencies of various processes into a Gantt chart or project calendar
  • You can describe and talk through the rationale for different SLAs for systems that you understand
  • You can identify and utilize slack time while also knowing when it is necessary to compress certain task timelines
  • You can identify, document, and talk to relationships/dependencies between different tasks

Communication

  • You can perform in a bilingual environment with professional-level written and spoken English skills
  • You have an ability to read/write reports and longform documentation in English that are designed to be read by executive stakeholders and clients

Time management

  • You know how to self-prioritize your time based on the competing needs of many tasks
  • You value your time and know when it is appropriate to delay or decline to take on additional tasks
  • You know when it is appropriate to delegate a task to someone else
  • You value the time of others and would rather automate a task than delegate it, when possible

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualified candidates must hold the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelors degree required; any focus related to business, retail merchandising, data science, or a related industry preferred
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager preferably in a technology company, data company, or retail merchandising company
  • Successful experience with roles of leadership and team management
  • Familiarity with task and project planning tools including an understanding of Jira, Basecamp, MS Projects, Clarizen, Smartsheet, Clickup, and/or Trello
  • Comfort and ability to work effectively in a remote environment with others around the Americas

Well qualified candidates are likely to have additional skills and experience:

  • PMP or other relevant project management certifications, awards, or accolades
  • Experience in the creation, implementation, or tracking of any of the following in any field: survey questionnaires, custom technology applications, mobile application experiences
  • Experience working with data analysts or scientists in the development of data-driven research
  • Experience interacting with high level and executive stakeholders on a portfolio of projects
  • Experience in the creation or implementation of custom technology applications or tools
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies with experience using a combination or hybrid methodology of managing projects
